Looking for a local place to jailbreak an iPhone 3GS with iOS4.0.1. Seems liek places in Dallas charge about $20. Will wait and have it done in Dallas if I can't find somebody local.

I did mine myself. Google blackra1n. I dunno if they have a jailbreak for 4.0 yet but mine was for 3.1.2.

when were you wanting to have it done? And has your phone ever been jailbroken? Last time I checked, they didn't have a jailbreak for os4 if you had jailbroken your phone before.

Google for os4 jailbreak. it should not be hard to do, the latest ones have simply been plug the phone in, and push a button on the program on your pc. jailbroken in seconds.

if you can't figure it out or don't want to mess with it, I can do it for you.

I did a quick google search, and if you can hold out alittle bit longer, you can use spirit 4.1. it will be just like the old "1 click" jailbreak that blackrain and spirit jailbreak for 3.1.3 was.

if you can't wait, going to Dallas might be your best bet. just keep in mind, if you find those ppl on craiglist, they might brick your phone and make it useless. they may or may not know what they are doing.

Looking at jailbreakmatrix.com I might have been able to do it before I was forced to upgrade to os 4.0.1 due to going into recovery mode. Have to wait now it appears. Phone has never been jailbroken...not that that us legal will get it done.

there is a way to do it right now at this moment if you are willing to learn the process. the most user friendly way of jailbreaking should be released pretty soon (ex just like the blackrain and spirit jb). that's what I would wait for. There is less chance of messing it up that way.

Idea: Buy a phone that doesn't require jailbreaking to be a non-worthless hunk-o-junk. Just an idea....

Do you have the old or new bootrom? there's a jailbreak for the new bootrom..but if you have old bootrom you need to be already jailbroken on 3.1.3 to use sn0wbreeze. checkout iphoneheat.com

Was trying to figure out what bootrom i had when i went into recovery mode. Am out of town for a race now and didn't want to try again. probably will need to wait til something for 4.0.1 is available

Comex has released their iOS 4 jailbreak program. You can run it straight from your iOS 4 device, no computer connection needed.

upgraded to ios4 (4.0.1) today and jailbroke my phone with no issues whatsoever. the only thing that is bugging me is that many of the tweaks I was using before on 3.1.3, have not been updated to work on ios4 yet.
